13-06-2008 13:58 ... cheeky bastards... 13-06-2008 14:00 I agree blatant name rip off of nukedesign.co.uk 's template, BE ORIGINAL FFS! 17-06-2008 10:20 Lol Hi guys, I just had a look at the Nuke template and had a hard time seeing the resemblence, then re-read the post and noticed that you guys are referring to the name, lol ;0) Just to set the record straight - we'd never actually seen that site or template before and our version was named after the aurora lights, which was the original background chosen that was chosen by Andrew (the templates designer). If you guys still think they are similar, then head over the aurora template features page and i am sure you will agree that they are totally different Not only can you completely customize almost every element of the template, but it is also built around the awesome Tatami component which allows you easily configure the template from Joomla's admin. As for names, it is almost impossible to chose a name that hasnt been used for something else.. Thanks for the comments none the less.. Cheers, Chris 17-06-2008 10:33 Aurora's inspiration is far more comple I am the designer of the Aurora template and in fact, the name was inspired from the original design which had an aurora lights background similar to the leopard mac osx theme. I had actually started the design for my personal blog and the effect was a Aurora/Borealis lights background with a COMPLETELY transparent content area. Essentially my inspiration for the background was from: http://abduzeedo.com/leopards-aurora-borealis-wallpaper-gimp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_(astronomy) After realizing how easily the backgrounds can be changed to make completely different look and feel, I decided to port it to Joomla and add it to our club for members. After this another 2 months of work went into it to make it a highly configurable template. What better name to give it than where the original inspiration came from, and it was really fitting with the template as it can be configured to any color / background setting like the Aurora lights. Aurora is not the most uncommon word in the world and the effect of Aurora lights is a trend in web design. I was rather surprised to see this comment here, especially since it said be original, which is exactly what I was doing, well at least I thought I was. Sorry if I upset anyone (I must have for them to call me a bastard), I had actually never heard of this template before or even the template club, or I would have thought of a different name...... I invite everyone to visit the demo of Aurora and you can see the original Aurora effect I did based on the tutorial above in the background effects part of the demo. 17-06-2008 10:38 ... I'm sure the original comments can be taken with a pinch of salt, and that no offence was really taken - Luke, you should be flattered Dan L (Admin) 05-09-2008 20:30 sort of off topic For the record, this has been updated to work with Joomla 1.5 now. ![]() Write Comment
